and yes, thanks to Johnny cash's "ring of fire" I have now changed the state parks name. never mind that it's nevada's first state park, little ole me has changed its official name. but, it was quite an experience. before heading to utah, I researched all the best places to visit and hike in january and now, I can pass on what we loved best.

I don't remember the blog, but the author spoke all about how the valley of fire is a must. we didn't watch the sunrise over the red rocks, or watch it set upon the valley, but it was breathtaking. one eye was gazing at red mountains while the other was counting the rays of color in the white rocks. the first trail was full of sand, in fact it was rough to find the trail, it was like walking along a water-less ocean. we quickly lost interest and turned back. driving along, further down, we found the 'hot spot' (maybe because the most number of people were there, or the mountains were glorious). the rocky mountains were everywhere. we were surrounded by them and you could climb them all. we packed a lunch and climbed a cliff and ate it. we glistened in the winter's sun gleam upon our faces. we laughed and talked, and admired the views around us. enjoy the video above and the gallery below. I've been through the desert...
