my friends, welcome to bluebonnet bakes

the new and improved, updated bluebonnet girl

a simple plan on the past, present, and future of my blog... oh, and just a little bit to get to know me :))

as I sat down to write this I thought, what should I even say? I've already written several posts (which several of you have probably already read), so what is the purpose of writing a 'welcome' or 'introduction' page? but then I thought, maybe many of you have never met me, are only seeing this blog for the first time (or maybe this is 5 years down the road and you're curious about who this random girl is that popped up on your feed). whomever you are; where ever you are... welcome, my friends. I am so glad you are here and I can't wait to share my journey with you.

and that's me. awkward. quirky. and a little bit lost... in the red desert. but I'm okay with that. if I post lots of photos from trips or talk about traveling a lot ... it's an addiction, but I'm okay with that.

my focus on this blog is to share lifestyle changes, travel tips, trips and reminisces, along with my homesteading goals. I really hope you find something you enjoy here and give me just a change to explain.

traveling itinerary

so let's start with travel, because why not. I've always had an itch for travel. I can't remember a time when I didn't want to go somewhere, or be someplace I wasn't. when high-school came around, I began to speak of all my plans of traveling the world and never settling. my dream was to be a journalist - because I figured they got to travel a lot. and so, I set out to conquer my quest... actually not really. I didn't really go to college, but after graduating high-school I went on a two week pilgrimage with my brother and a group from church. I got to see places I had only dreamed of... Paris, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein (never heard of it? neither had I). I came back, went to culinary school, then went to Europe again two years later. and that was my last excursion overseas... at least for now. I have so many plans for the future, and Chris and I are beyond elated to hit the air flying to wherever the skies take us. and so, I love traveling. there is nothing like it. I've explored the U.S. a little bit more, and still have loads of places to go... the bucket list y'all, just grows every time I travel. and whenever I explore a new place, try a new food, meet a new culture... I'll document it, give you my uneducated review and share my gallery of photos. stay tuned for travel content coming your way.

homesteading for dummies?

am I an experienced homesteader, do I deserve the veteran title? no, definitely not. I need one of those books where they teach you how to homestead (like those one's for dummies ;)). yet I enjoy nature and natural things. I absolutely love baking and cooking with fresh, local ingredients. I will literally find every farmers market, and natural means of living. I'm kinda crunchy. and aspire to be a granola girl... if you have tips, please comment them below. although I left my parents hobby farm for an apartment in the city with my husband, I brought the homesteading itch with me. I've got a patio garden (it takes time), fermenting everything, and baking loaves of sourdough. I'm an amateur homesteader, sharing my journey and growing as I go.

ideal lifestyle...

this one is probably the most compact. lifestyle is such a broad term; so what does it mean? well, this could definitely be it's own post (which I will probably share soon), but in short: I want to create a life for myself and my family that is balanced in mind, body, and soul. physical activity that is fun, beneficial, and encouraging. an active prayer life that is both mental and vocal prayer. and fueling my body with pro metabolic foods that keep me going day-to-day. I struggle with negative body image and intrusive thoughts... and I am out to combat the negative and fill my time with positive and manageable lifestyle choices. I say manageable, because if you want to eat well and add in physical exercise to be 'healthy' find raw, fresh foods you enjoy. fall in love with cooking. and find workouts that are enjoyable for you. I'll share a few of mine and some of my tips on staying focus. the key to success is persistence and consistency.

and so, that is a little bit about me and my blog. I love writing and I am beyond elated to start this journey with you all. stay in the now, by clicking the button below. I am so excited you're here with me and can't for what the future holds.
