tuesday 1st august - we headed an hour outside london proper to visit the quaint town of richmond. so much nature, architect, and history were found there. yet of course we began our day with another full english breakfast and a cappuccino. we hit the train, carrying our umbrella of course, and headed out to richmond along the thames river. it was really a phenomenal idea… we reached richmond around 08:30 and spent the whole day exploring. we made our way along the thames river, and sat down in a bench admiring the boats - canoes, kayaks, fishing boats, and tour boats wading in the water. the geese, ducks, and swans approached us hoping for a mid-morning snack, but we had nothing on us so they were out of luck and slowly dispersed. there were folks out on morning runs, bike rides, and strolls. others were sitting at cafe’s enjoying their coffee as they admired the view. it was like we were in a movie.

we continued our stroll along winding roads, through an open field until we happened upon a royal park. it was amazing!! it gave us a taste of the countryside, while a small river town. there were deer, loads of birds, and some of the largest trees I’ve ever seen. as we strolled through paths of flowers and greenery, I felt I should be in a jane austen book, strolling arm-in-arm with a dear friend. or sipping tea - which we did. we stopped at the tea stand near the entrance of the park. chris had black tea and I had blackcurrant clotted cream ice cream - ah-mazing. we then continued to walk a few more miles in the park before heading to town. we took a few hours looking for a place to eat, because someone couldn’t decide what she wanted to eat. but we found a sandwich cafe and had another coffee. we went window shopping, bought an tea cup, learned much about the history of richmond from a local store clerk, before heading back to our hotel. it was already quite late, but we made a pit-stop at paddington station. if you don’t know paddington bear, I’m sorry for you. we met him, nonetheless. we walked around the station for a bit before grabbing dinner at a local greek bistro.

another 25000 steps, 12 miles, a train ride back to the docklands, a cup a tea, and our last day in London was complete. we had fun in london.
